For the 2017-2018 year, we will start school everyday at 8:35 a.m. and end school at 3:10 p.m. on M,T, TH and F, 1:10 p.m. on Wednesdays. We hope this timing will keep traffic to a minimum and allow siblings to get to school on time. Remember, we highly encourage our students to walk and ride to school!
Supervision will be provided 15 minutes before school (starting at 8:20 am on M, T, Th & F). There will be extended supervision time on Wednesday mornings starting at 8:00 am. The supervision after school will be for 15 minutes as well.
Students will be assigned A or B day when they receive their schedule. When students are not at their A/B classes, they continue Social Studies, Science, and PBL. Start and end times of the learning periods on Thursday are slightly different and available upon request.*
Students will have the opportunity to participate in a variety of classes including world languages, makerspace, and design. These classes are meant to encourage exploration and creativity while providing a sampling of classes that may be available at CMS. 4th grade will attend on A/B days. 5th grade will attend on Wednesdays only.
Fitness & Wellness
Our CMS Fitness & Wellness teachers will provide PE to our 5th grade students two days a week. Students will be assigned A day or B day for their PE Class. We will work with Legarza to provide PE to our 4th grade students two days a week. Students will be assigned A day or B day for their PE class.
These classes include PTA sponsored classes such as Garden, Art in Action, Digital Citizenship, and additional SEL. Enrichment classes will rotate weekly and will typically happen on the same day of the week for a specific classroom.
Music Appreciation – 4th Grade
Music for Minors will work closely with our Band and Orchestra teachers to offer a comprehensive music program in every 4th grade classroom on Wednesdays.
Band/Orchestra/Design 2 – 5th Grade
Our Band, Orchestra, and Design 2 teachers will provide classes to our students two days a week. Students will be assigned A day or B day for their elective class.
