Hello Arroyo Families,
We have had an incredible start to our first year at Arroyo School. Your children are incredible problem solvers who collectively want to make our school awesome!
I really appreciate your support and patience while we work together to build community and develop routines and procedures to create a predictable and safe learning environment for our students and their families. One area that I think we can still improve upon is how we enter and exit the school. Please model and remind your children to practice some of these basic steps to stay safe:
- If you are walking, please don’t use the parking lot as a short cut. Please walk on the pedestrian side of the yellow line.
- If you drop off/ pick up your children across the street, please make sure they cross the street where there is a crossing guard.
- Please note: There is no longer a mid-street crosswalk on Arroyo. The crosswalks are at the corner of Arroyo and Woodland or Arroyo and Cedar.
- If you are picking up your child in the car, wait for a school teacher to stop pedestrian traffic before you exit to the right (and please never exit to the left)
Thank you so much for your assistance with this. This is such an incredible community. You are all helping so much to make our school awesome!
Go Arroyo Eagles!
Stampede & Soar Early Bird Registration Discount Ends September 16th!
Come join us for our only fundraising event of the year! The Stampede & Soar fun run will take place the morning of Sunday, October 16th, forming a new tradition that brings together the communities of CMS and Arroyo – providing every student, and their families, the opportunity to rock their school colors and show their school spirit. Arroyo Eagles will soar and the CMS Mustangs will stampede through San Carlos to help raise funds for our joint PTA. More information about the run can be found here http://arroyoschool.org/calendar/events/stampede-soar-fun-run.
Register by September 16th to take advantage of the $35/person registration fee. After that date, the fee will increase to $50/person. Regardless of the number of runners in your household, we suggest that each family support our schools by donating at least $150 per family, inclusive registration fees. Registration is easy through PTAEZ online at https://centralarroyopta.myschoolcentral.com.
By participating in the Stampede & Soar fundraiser, you support exciting learning and fun, engaging programs and events at both schools. This includes, but is not limited to, the garden, Art in Action, community building nights, and grade level events such as the Halloween Party and 8th grade graduation activities. Help contribute to reaching our goal to raise $75,000 this year through the Stampede & Soar. With your support, our children and families can continue to benefit from, and enjoy, the wonderful and enriching events for which our community is known.

Kids can benefit from meditation as much as adults. In this club, we will introduce students to age-appropriate tools to increase focus, quiet their minds, reduce stress and anxiety, and increase self-confidence. Some of the activities that we will do include breathing exercises, yoga poses, visualizations, and fun games. We understand that 4th and 5th graders like to move; so we will not be spending much time doing sitting meditations. The goal is to teach kids life skills that will help them better cope with and thrive in their daily lives.
Meet at the picnic tables every other Wednesday 1:10-2:15pm starting on September 14th. We’ll have lunch together. Club is free but requires registration. Limited to 20 students. Instructors Eva Iglesias and Jerrica Fritzley have studied meditation extensively for the past 3-4 years. For more information or to register contact Eva at email@example.com.
