Hello Arroyo Parents and Guardians,
We had a great time viewing the STEM and ROPES projects last week. Every classroom walked through our ‘pop up’ STEM/ROPES Fair to see the projects that were brought in. The students were very impressed and inspired by the work that their fellow classmates had done. I heard many kids leaving the the ‘fair’ saying comments like, “Wow, I think I will work on a ROPES or STEM project next year…that was really cool!”. Aside from celebrating the amazing work, I really hoped that this mini STEM/ROPES Fair would inspire others to consider participating in years to come. So, thank you to all the parents/ guardians who helped to make this happen. I am so very grateful.
We have a very exciting week ahead. Today we launch our student-run Used Book Fair for the next two days. I am grateful for the support of parents Stefania Paskins and Katherine Sherman for their assistance and support of the student leaders. It’s going to be a wonderful opportunity to buy awesome books for low prices ($1-$3 a book). Please encourage your children to bring money to buy some books. You can also drop by before or after school if you would like to buy some books!
Also, on Wednesday, February 14th, NBC News is coming to Arroyo to film our students celebrating the Olympics and sending love to the athletes (watch for us on the evening news…I will send more info later). We have made flags of every country that is participating in the Olympics, as well as other Olympic art. We will also mention our Olympic related learning that we are doing, such as the 4th grade ‘Math Olympic’ events that are going on throughout the real Olympic weeks. We are so excited!
In addition to this, our wonderful board of education will be visiting our school on Tuesday and I will be presenting some our our school highlights to them on Thursday night at the board meeting. And this will include bringing some of our wonderful students with me to talk about our 5Cs in action.
It’s another exciting, action packed week at Arroyo!
