Hello Parents and Guardians,
Wow, I can’t believe that our inaugural year has come to a close. What an incredible year it has been! I am so amazed at the learning that has continued to happen all the way to this final week. We still have exhibitions of project based learning occurring in this last ½ week of school. The students have continued to amaze me with their passion and enthusiasm to take on new challenges and share what they have learned with others. And this is hugely due to the amazing staff that we have at Arroyo, serving the students every day! It is also due to the support that you have offered throughout the year. Thank you so much for all that you have contributed to make our school such a vibrant and exciting learning space. I am so very proud to be the leader of this incredible school!
I want to also acknowledge the staff who have helped us so much in this first year, but will be leaving us for other roles and/ or sites within the district: 4th grade teachers Brenda Taylor and Terri Maccan, and Counselor, Kim Arasato. We are so very grateful for your contribution!
And I’d also like to welcome our new staff that will join us next year: Heidi Umber, a SCSD 4th grade teacher and Megan Scatena, who joins us from Los Altos School District. We will also welcome Andrea Dimas, who will be our new school counselor and Jeff Alexander, who will be our part time Tech Associate. We are so lucky to have such a talented team joining us. It makes me very excited about next year.
And Iastly, I would like to acknowledge our outgoing 5th grade students. Our time was honestly too short with you. You are a terrific group of young men and women. I am thrilled to send you on to middle school as the strong, intelligent, creative, empathetic and kind young people that you are. You will always be the first group that left Arroyo. We are so proud of who you are and what you will become. We hope you will come back and visit often!
Please have a restful, family fun-filled, enjoyable summer. I can’t wait to see you in the fall and hear about your adventures!
- June 13 & 14 minimum days- Please plan accordingly!
- June 15- all lost and found items will be DONATED! Please look through the items!
Marie Crawford, Arroyo Principal
As the first year of Arroyo comes to a close, I wanted to thank all of you for your support, involvement, encouragement, feedback, and patience. It was exciting to work together to build an Arroyo community with PTA programs and events to support our students. Thank you for trying new things and for helping us make adjustments as needed. I am very excited about our new traditions that we will be continuing next year such as Family Fiesta Night, Used Book Fair, Project Cornerstone, Digital Citizenship, Stampede & Soar, and the Arroyo Garden and so many continuing programs and events that we have made specific to us Eagles such as Art in Action, Book Fair, Arroyo Dance, Staff Appreciation, and Talent Show. There are so many other ways that you, the parent community, have supported the teachers, administration, and students this year. Thank you and have a wonderful summer!
Thank you in advance to Viki Young and Sharon Penn and all the parent volunteers for their help with the year end field day celebration for Arroyo. It should be a great way to kick off the summer.
We are busy planning next year. Do you want to get involved? Have a question? Please contact firstname.lastname@example.org.
Help us reach our fundraising goal this year!
A big thank you to all who responded to our ask!
We are only $300,000 away from reaching our goal of $2.5 million for 2016-17. Help us finish the year off strong and make a difference in the everyday learning experience of every child in our San Carlos public schools. Donate now at: http://scefkids.org/donate/
