Hello Arroyo Parents and Guardians,
First of all, thank you for attending our Open House. We had a wonderful showing and it was really great to see so many families at Arroyo. We certainly had a lot to celebrate! And speaking of celebrations, it was so wonderful to celebrate two of our fabulous volunteers: Veronica Dils and Michelle Chang, as well as one of our teachers, Miriam Seigel-Stern, who all received PTA Honorary Service Awards for their incredible contributions to Arroyo School. We are so fortunate!
I also want to take a moment to honor two of our wonderful teachers, Heidi Geiges and Maggie Stewart, who will both be taking a leave of absence next year. Heidi will pursue work in Educational Technology (which is the field that she recently received a masters degree) and Maggie will be spending more time with her baby in the upcoming year. We are so incredibly grateful for the contributions of each of these wonderful ladies. Our Arroyo community will miss them deeply.
It’s hard to believe that the school year is almost over. We still have so much to do, including celebrating the talent of our students at the upcoming talent show. We hope to see you on Friday, June 8th at 6:00pm in Mustang Hall. We also hope to see many of you at the Volunteer Appreciation Coffee on Friday at 8:00am. I hope you can stop by for a short while. If not, thank you so much for your support this year!
Upcoming Dates to Keep in Mind:
- June 8: Arroyo Volunteer Appreciation Coffee (8:00am in Learning Commons)
- June 8: Student Talent Show (6:00pm in Mustang Hall)
- June 14: Last Day of School (dismissal is at 1:10pm)
Honorary Service Awards
On Wednesday night, we were so very pleased to honor and thank this year’s Central Arroyo PTA Honorary Service Award recipients:
- Michelle Chang
- Veronica Dils
- Miriam Seigel-Stern
- Jo Jeffs
- Megan Becht
- Patti Blumen
We also had the opportunity to thank Danika Stanley with a PTACC Honorary Service Award for her ongoing work with the Chicken’s Ball on behalf of all San Carlos schools.
When you see these wonderful ladies, please thank them for everything they do for our students!
Arroyo is so lucky to have tremendous parent volunteer support. Thank you to the Communications Team led by Erica Pompen which includes Beth Rowell who does the newsletter every single week, Veronica Dils who keeps the website updated, Linh Chan who produced our directory, and Karen Laing (and all the room parents) who makes sure announcements get out to parents via Shutterfly.
Another big thank you to Joyce Romeo who volunteered to be our Events Director for the year. She has been pivotal in making sure all the events have the support they need to occur. Thank you!
Our last PTA meeting of the year is Thursday, June 7th at 7 pm in the Library. We will be voting on next year’s PTA Board and talking about plans for the next school year. Please join us. Thank you to ALL the parents who stepped up to lead the PTA next year.
Don’t delay, donate today
The end of the school year is fast approaching. San Carlos remains one of lowest funded districts in the region. Please consider making a gift to the San Carlos Education Foundation to help meet the needs of all of our students. We can’t do it without your support. Donate today at www.scefkids.org/donate
