Hello Arroyo Parents and Guardians,
We often talk about the strength of San Carlos public schools. One thing that is fundamental to our strong schools is the role of parent engagement. Our kids (and our schools) benefit when parents are involved and active. Through involvement in our PTA, our classrooms and San Carlos Education Foundation, parents in San Carlos provide critical support for our school.
The nonprofit San Carlos Education Foundation is overseen by a all-volunteer board of parents who work tirelessly to raise critical funds for our schools. The District-Wide fundraising model managed by SCEF allows for all our schools and students to have access to programs that would not be available with State Funding alone. Your donations to SCEF help provide programs and staff to ensure a well-rounded education for all students in the San Carlos public schools.
Please remember to support SCEF this school year. Your donations by June 30, 2018 will be used to fund key programs next year :
- Design/ Innovation
- World Language
- Music for Minors, Band & Orchestra
- Technology (including additional ipads and chromebooks)
- School Counselor
Without the support of your donations through SCEF we would not be able to provide many of these enrichment programs for our students. Thank you for your generosity!
May 16 is SCEF DAY. Wear green to show your support. If you haven’t already done so, I urge you to consider a donation in whatever amount makes sense for your family.
You can donate online at www.scefkids.org/donate. There is even an option to make your donation in monthly increments and a way to check to see if your employer provides a matching gift.
Your donations will ensure that we are able to continue vital and innovative programs that benefit our children and provide them with a well rounded education. It will continue to keep our schools strong, help them retain their individual strengths and build new ones.
Thank you for your support!
Upcoming Dates to Keep in Mind:
- May 16th: SCEF DAY please show your support!
- May 19th: Hometown Days Parade (watch our 5th graders play in the CMS band!)
- May 30: Open House (5:00-6:15pm @ Arroyo)

The Seedling Sale was a tremendous success. Thanks to our wonderful student gardeners and our fearless garden leaders, Justin Sears and Elisa Nino-Sears and a terrific team of volunteers, we made $1,700 this weekend. Families from around San Carlos came to purchase seedlings grown from our very own seeds for their gardens or to give as Mother’s Day gifts. All earnings will be used to help fund the Arroyo Garden next year. We want you on our garden team for next year – any interest in helping with this amazing program? Have questions about what is needed? Please firstname.lastname@example.org.
A huge thank you to Kirsten Haithcox and Kerry Roark and the staff appreciation committee for spoiling our staff last week during Teacher Appreciation Week. They have done a terrific job all year making sure the entire Arroyo staff have felt appreciated. We need your help keeping this tradition going. If you are interested in helping lead this effort next year, please contact us at email@example.com.
