Hello Arroyo Parents and Guardians,
Our students have been working very hard on their SBAC tests. We are close to finished with them at the 4th grade level (although we still have some make ups to complete) and the 5th grade still has the Science test to take on Tuesday. I want to extend a huge thank you to all parents who have rescheduled various appointments as best you could so that it was not disruptive to your child’s testing. This has made a huge difference. Thank you!
And speaking about thanks, our teachers and staff would like to host a Volunteer Appreciation Coffee for all of our many volunteers on Friday, June 8th at 8:00am in the Learning Commons. We will be sending home flyers to remind you. We know that this includes most of you in one way or another and we also know that many might not be able to attend, so please know how deeply we appreciate all of your efforts and support to make our school the very special place that it is. We all share a depth of gratitude!
Upcoming Dates to Keep in Mind:
- May 30: Open House (5:00-6:15pm @ Arroyo)
- June 8: Arroyo Volunteer Appreciation Coffee (8:00am in Learning Commons)- New!
- June 8: Student Talent Show (6:00pm in Mustang Hall)
- June 14: Last Day of School
It’s Time to Create the AiA Gallery!
Wednesday, May 30th is the Open House AiA Show. Please volunteer via the link below to help with hanging background paper and the amazing art the students have been creating all year! Volunteer slots are available on May 21, 24, 25, 29, 30 and June 1. We also have a Take-Home Project if you are interested.
Thank you to everyone who has stepped up to fill the open PTA positions for next fall. We have a full “slate” of officers now that we will be voting on at a special meeting on June 7th at 7 pm in the library. Join us! There are several open positions and we want your help! The most critical roles are a garden expert and committee chairs for the Stampede & Soar.
Many thanks to all of you who participated in our survey regarding the bake sale vs. the fun run. The fun run received slightly more votes, but also we have had volunteers step up to lead the event. As such, next fall the Stampede & Soar will return to Arroyo. More information will be coming in the fall.
Thank you also to our wonderful PTA programs leaders – Justin Sears and Elisa Nino-Sears for the garden, Christina Parsey and Jana Pacquette for Art in Action, and Michelle Chang and Karen Mahon for Project Cornerstone. Thank you also to Danielle Cole for her continuous advocating for Digital Citizenship. These wonderful parents have dedicated a significant amount of time over the year to ensure our students benefit from these programs. Please thank them yourselves when you see them next.
What does my SCEF donation fund at my school?
SCEF’s mission is to provide equity among all San Carlos schools and to bridge the gap between what the State provides and the needs of our students. Your donations to SCEF are used to fund key programs at Arroyo. SCEF dollars help keep the library open and staffed, underwrite the cost of counselors to provide emotional support and teach cooperation & citizenship, support band and orchestra beginning in 5th grade, and provide funding for certain field trips. SCEF dollars are used at Arroyo to purchase technology devices and fund Tech Associates who support your child’s safe and effective use of technology. In addition, the Principal receives a grant every year from SCEF to fund Arroyo’s specific needs.
Please make your donation by June 30, 2018 to ensure that all these programs continue next year at your child’s school. Make your donation today at: www.scefkids.org/donate
