Hello Arroyo Parents and Guardians,
We had a very successful Outdoor Education Week for our 5th graders. We can’t wait to hear all of the stories today and find out about the many clubs that they joined. The latest one that I learned about was the Feet Up on the Tree club! The 4th graders will have their wonderful overnight experience at Sutter’s Fort in the next few months as well. It is so great to get the students into nature to experience life science from a very experiential level. They just thrive in these alternative learning settings! Here is a quote that one of my dear friends recently posted:
“Imagine a world in which Children…
Are immersed in Nature
Develop a kinship with Nature
See Nature as a healer
Experience the joy of Nature
Feel a responsibility to care for Nature”
I do believe that these experiences serve to build a foundation for deeply understanding the restorative properties of nature and the importance of conserving open spaces that can create these similar learning experiences for generations to come.
Marie Crawford, Principal
