Hello Arroyo Parents and Guardians,
We are down to the final stretch for our Stampede and Soar plans. If you haven’t registered, please consider signing up online or join us on Sunday, October 16th and register on campus. You can even register if you are not planning to run, but would like to support our Arroyo runners. Go Eagles!
Our student led conferences will occur next week (October 17-21), which will be a minimum day week. Students will start school at 8:35 and be dismissed at 1:10 every day that week. SMART-E will be available for after school care everyday. If you need to schedule care, please click here to reserve your spot.
We had an incredible first week of volunteer led classes (which include a rotation of either the Arroyo Garden, Art in Action, or Project Cornerstone in every classroom each week). Our students were so excited to learn a new art lesson, plant in their classroom garden bed, and/or learn their first Project Cornerstone lesson based on the book, Stand Tall Molly Lou Melon by Patty Lovell (This book reinforces positive body image and positive self-talk, while also practicing assertiveness skills when faced with unkind messages from others). We are so very grateful for all of the parents who have worked tirelessly to organize, prepare and lead these classes. We are so very fortunate to receive so much support!
Thanks for helping to make our Arroyo community such a vibrant and exciting place to be!

The Central Arroyo Book Fair will be held the week of 10/31. Students will visit the book fair during the week, during their library time. There will be a great selection of books for all grades. The Book Fair will also be open before school, during recess and after school, from 8:00 am – 3:30 pm, except on Wednesday when it will be open from 8:00 am – 1:30 pm. The Family Night event will be Wednesday, November 2, from 6:00-8:00 pm. You can send your child to school with a check made payable to Central Arroyo PTA for them to purchase books and note the limit they can spend in the “memo” section. We will fill in the amount spent on the check.
Stay tuned for further details on other activities during Family Night. Funds raised from the Book Fair help support the Central Arroyo PTA, which supports the library.
We need your help to make this event a great success! Please consider signing up for a slot (or two) to help out. It is a great chance to see the students and encourage them to find great books to enjoy. Book Fair SignUp

ROPES is the Rite Of Passage ExperienceS (ROPES) program that is specifically designed as an optional enrichment activity as students complete cycles of their education. ROPES is a community endeavor supported by many groups and organizations in San Carlos. The ROPES project gives students in fourth, sixth and eighth grade opportunities to explore and demonstrate project based learning. The project is an opportunity for students to participate in an academic ritual by way of real-life learning experiences. To find out more about ROPES, we will be hosting a ROPES Newcomer Orientation at your site where we will provide you with even greater details and provide an opportunity for students and parents to ask specific questions.

This month we are kicking-off a series of monthly social-emotional learning lessons from Project Cornerstone. A parent volunteer will visit your child’s classroom each month to read a story, lead discussions and share activities to help all kids feel valued, respected and known at school. Parent information will come home with each lesson, describing the stories and key ideas. In October, we will read the book Stand Tall Molly Lou Melon by Patty Lowell.
