Hello Arroyo Families,
We are really excited to welcome you all to our Arroyo Back to School Night on Thursday, September 15th from 6:00-8:00PM. Please join us in Mustang Hall for a brief gathering to hear from SCEF and PTA, while also receiving some announcements for the evening. You will be able to hear from your child’s primary teacher from 6:30-7:00 and then visit your child’s elective and exploratory teachers from 7:05-7:45. We’ll share more specific information and school maps the day before and the evening of the event. We look forward to seeing all of you here!
Please also note that Thursday will be a minimum day. The students will be dismissed at 1:10 on Thursday, September 15th. They will not have electives, P.E. or exploratory classes on that day because those teachers will be at Central Middle School working a full day and therefore out of synch with our schedule for the day. Please note this if siblings are at both schools. SMART-E After school will be open early on that day, so if you need childcare, please sign up. Here’s SMART-E Arroyo’s link: http://www.smartesancarlos.com/smarte-arroyo/
I look forward to seeing all of you on Thursday!

Stampede & Soar – Arroyo School’s only PTA fundraiser
The Stampede & Soar, coming up on Sunday, October 16th, is our only fundraiser of the year, and it’s critical we reach our goal of $75,000 to cover all our PTA programs and events. All students who register will receive a free t-shirt, and we’d love all student runners to show their school spirit by wearing the Stampede & Soar T-shirts and dressing up in their school colors! We’ll have food and refreshments available for purchase after the race.
If you are unable to join us on October 16, but still wish to support the PTA, here’s your chance! Every bit helps, we have a HUGE goal this year, help us get to $75,000. Thank you!!! https://centralarroyopta.myschoolcentral.com.
Please note that the Early Bird Registration Deadline is this Friday, September 16th.
We’d also like to thank our Stampede & Soar Gold Sponsor, Miller & Associates, and our Silver Sponsors thus far: Lehman Construction, Chang Orthodontics, Floorcraft, Coast to Coast and Sporty Kids. If you or someone you know owns a local business, is a parent at one of these schools, and would like more information about sponsoring the Stampede & Soar, please contact our Stampede & Soar chair – Jolyn Bibb at firstname.lastname@example.org by September 15th.
SMART-E Open Enrollment
SMART-E Enrichment Fall 2016 is now open for registration at http://www.smartesancarlos.com! Classes begin the week of September 26, and most end early December. Check the website for individual class schedules. Contact the SMART-E business office (650.590.5966) if you have any further questions.
Kids can benefit from meditation as much as adults. In this club, we will introduce students to age-appropriate tools to increase focus, quiet their minds, reduce stress and anxiety, and increase self-confidence. Some of the activities that we will do include breathing exercises, yoga poses, visualizations, and fun games. We understand that 4th and 5th graders like to move, so we will not be spending much time doing sitting meditations. The goal is to teach kids life skills that will help them better cope with and thrive in their daily lives.
Meet at the picnic tables every other Wednesday 1:10-2:15pm starting on September 14th. We’ll have lunch together. Meditation Club is free but requires registration and is limited to 20 students so sign up soon. Instructors Eva Iglesias and Jerrica Fritzley have studied meditation extensively for the past 3-4 years. For more information or to register contact Eva at email@example.com.
